Goombay 2013!

Opening up the week of Fantasy Festival is the kick-off festival, Goombay.  This street fair celebrates our Afro-Caribbean essence and is a party like no other.  This upcoming weekend Friday Oct 18th and Saturday Oct 19th from noon until 10pm join in on the Goombay festival and warm up for the week to come. Goombay sets up around Petronia Street in Bahama Village, just off Key West’s legendary Duval Street. The event features African art and crafts, jewelry, local art vendors and delicacies from a variety of cultures and countries. Make sure to try local Caribbean fair like the delicious Conch Ceviche, or Ginger Beer and if you are lucky you may find the Bahamian candy lady who sells candied ginger from her front stoop.  Shop around, talk to people, enjoy the laid back nature of our island and dance the the live music ranging from reggie to rap to gospel. See you on the street!
