Civil War Heritage Days is coming up this weekend to the Historic Fort Zachary Taylor. The old
fort comes alive during this 3-day event featuring a land and sea battle
with schooners, patrol skirmishes, re-enactors dressed in period
costumes, demonstrations, a Kid’s Day and more. Event runs February 8th -
10th. 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Friday & Saturday), 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Sunday). The Heritage Days are not only a great way to learn about Florida Keys diverse history but the State Park itself is beautiful. The park is shaded by large whispering Wisteria Pines and picnic tables are situated throughout. Fort Zach, as locals call it, has the best swimming beach as well as some fun snorkeling areas. Snorkel gear, beach umbrellas and chairs can be rented and there is a small concession that sells food and drink. The local smoked fish dip is the best! So enjoy a day at the beach, take in some history, have a picnic and frolic in the Gulf of Mexico waters. For directions and more information talk to your concierge Geri or Rebecca.
