Forbidden Fruit - Key West Burlesque
People love Key West because although it is a small island, a very small island, there is always something dynamic and 'larger than life' going on. A little something for everyone. The Key West Burlesque is our little island's only unique and talent laden burlesque. It is a mixture of the Moulon Rouge with a touch of Rocky Horror and a taste of musical panache. It is wild, it is sassy, it is sexy! "Forbidden Fruit, Key West's Juiciest Show" directed by Tatah Dujour includes dance, song and a variety of entertainments. It features a rotating cast of performers and KW Burlesque's very own band, The DuJourchestra! Not only is it a fabulous night out with laughter and entertainment, but one gets to experience yet another aspect of Key West art and theater. Certainly a show to see if you haven't! It is an adult show so keep the little ones at home. "Forbidden Fruit, Key West's Juiciest Show" plays every Friday thru September 7th. Show time at 8:30pm. Dinner & Show package available. At Mangoe's Upstairs Theater, 700 Duval St., Reservations: 305-771-0279.

The Running of The Bulls
The commemoration of Key West's great hero, Ernest Hemingway continues this week. As you walk down busy Duval Street, you are sure to see quite a few Ernests walking down the street too. The look alike competition runs all week, look at schedule for times. There are various performances being shown at the Tropic cinema and you can't miss the street fair on Saturday from 10am-9pm on Duval Street. Certainly one of the highlights of Saturday is the 'Running of the Bulls'. This event is on Saturday and starts at 1pm. Watch dozens of Hemingways run down Duval Street as the crowds cheer them along. Not only will the gang of Hemingways be running, at 5pm there is a 5K Sunset run that starts at the Southernmost point and takes the runners through old town. The week is filled with fun filled events for all the family. For more information and schedule visit: http://www.fla-keys.com/news/news.cfm?sid=8429

32nd ANNUAL HEMINGWAY DAYS
Whether composing novels in his Whitehead Street
writing studio or fishing for big game in local waters, Pulitzer
Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway left a powerful legacy in Key
West. His zest for life, literary accomplishments and enduring affection
for the island throughout the 1930s are to be
commemorated Tuesday through Sunday, July 17-22, 2012, during the annual
Hemingway Days celebration. Events include a look-alike contest for
stocky white-bearded men resembling Hemingway, readings and book
signings, an awards ceremony for the renowned literary competition
directed by author and Hemingway granddaughter Lorian Hemingway, a
commemoration of the 113th anniversary of Ernest's July 21 birth, a
one-man play exploring the literary legend's life and motivations, a
museum exhibit of rare Hemingway memorabilia, a zany "Running of the
Bulls" and a three-day marlin tournament recalling Hemingway's devotion
to the deep-sea sport. It is a festival to be enjoyed by all! For more information and schedule of events go to http://www.fla-keys.com/hemingwaymedia/

The Key West Summer Stage
There was a time, only two years ago, that Key West local theater lovers would lament the lack of theater events during the sticky months of summer. Such complaints have been put to rest by Key West Summer Stage, a three-week summer mini-season at the Red Barn Theater. KWSS, produced by TheatreXP, features a great mix of Key West's most recognizable actors and new faces. There are three plays and each runs for five performances only, Tuesday-Saturday, curtain at 8pm. Productions include, Eric Bogosian's iconic TALK RADIO, July 10-14: the hilarious YOU'VE GOT HATE MAIL by Billy Zandt and Jane Milmore, July 17-21; and Conor McPherson's remarkable THE SEAFARER, July 24-28. There is nothing like experiencing the talent of Key West, while seated in an old historic carriage house, to get the local flavor of our great island. Because of the limited run times tickets will sell out quickly so make sure to think ahead and book your tickets today. For tickets call 302-540-6102 or talk to your concierge, Geri or Rebecca and they can book the tickets for you. Hope to see you there!
