An Innkeepers Guides to Key West-Interview

Dean was recently interviewed in an article on NBC.com about a new series of Innkeeper’s Guides to popular destinations around the country. The guide was put together by inspired innkeepers, such as Dean and Paul, that wanted to help travelers learn about a community through the eyes of the locals and offer an inside scoop of things to do and places to go.  At the Mermaid & The Alligator we are all very proud of our little island city and love to tell guests the little secrets of the island, and work diligently to find just the perfect type of activity to suit each guests needs.  Now with the new guide book, An Innkeepers Guide to Key West', visitors have a great travel book with inside tips.  There are five other Guide Books out and more to follow.  To read the article on NBC.com visit http://travelkit.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/09/21/13990978-innkeepers-share-their-best-kept-secrets-in-new-guides?lite.  Remember when reading the article, that Dean was interviewed while he was vacationing in Costa Rica, that's dedication!

Closed for Our Summer Hiatus

September is here and it is time for our annual end-of-year summer hiatus; we will be closed 9/08/12 until 9/28/12.  Dean and Paul take a much needed holiday in Costa Rica, Rebecca goes off to Nova Scotia and Geri travels to upstate New York.  While we all take a break the Inn goes through its annual sprucing up; tree trimmers arrive with large tools to cut back overreaching foliage, our carpenter, Rudy, comes to complete any painting, repairs or remodeling needed, and the Inn gets a thorough deep clean.  We open our doors on Friday Sept 28th feeling refreshed, gleaming and ready for another fabulous season.   Caroline and the doggies will be inn-sitting for the month, so we are still taking reservations, answering e-mails and here to answer any questions you may have.  Have a wonderful September and we look forward to a great season.

FasHOUNDista's

It is a well known fact that Caya and Havana run the show at the Mermaid.  Guests bring them gifts, open doors for them, feed them, play with them and many guests come just to see them. We get photos sent to our e-mail inbox addressed to Caya and Havana!  The two lovable pooches make the Mermaid a home as well as an Inn which is why our guests continue to return time and again.  The latest doggie news is the new necklaces that Caya and Havana have taken to wearing.  The unique and colorful necklaces are made from the Hawaiian Kukui Nut tree and come in a variety of colors.  The Kukui Nut is a sacred tree in the Hawaain culture and has been adorned and utilized for centuries.  Both Caya and Havana, always keeping up with fashion trends, enjoy sporting the necklaces and making a colorful and playful entrance.  If you have a loveable pet that also wishes to be the fasHOUNDista that Caya and Havana embody we sell the necklaces at the Inn.  Just ask and the doggies will be happy to model them for you.
